Reading Your Portfolio Summary

The Summary tab provides a consolidated financial snapshot of your entire portfolio. It brings together investment totals, performance figures, and net worth into a single view.

Time in Market

At the top of the Summary, Ghostfolio shows how long you have been investing — for example, "about 9 years" with "12 activities" total. This gives context for the performance numbers below.

Activity Summary

The Buy and Sell totals show the historical cost basis of your transactions:

  • Buy — total amount spent acquiring assets (e.g., 64,931.38 USD)
  • Sell — total proceeds from selling assets (e.g., 0.00 USD if you have never sold)

Performance Metrics

The performance section breaks down your returns in detail:

  • Investment — your net cost basis after fees (e.g., 64,219.36 USD)
  • Absolute Gross Performance — total profit in your base currency before fees (e.g., 38,544.56 USD)
  • Fees — total transaction fees paid (e.g., -182.42 USD)
  • Absolute Net Performance — profit after all fees (e.g., 38,362.14 USD)
  • Net Performance (ROAI) — return on after-inflation investment, expressed as a percentage (e.g., +111.47%)

Net Worth Breakdown

The lower section calculates your complete financial picture:

  • Total Assets — market value of all tracked positions
  • Emergency Fund — cash set aside and excluded from performance tracking
  • Cash — cash positions within tracked accounts
  • Buying Power — available uninvested cash
  • Net Worth — total assets minus liabilities
  • Annualized Performance — your compound annual growth rate (e.g., +8.65%)

Dividends and Interest

If you receive dividends or interest, Ghostfolio tracks those separately at the bottom of the Summary so you can distinguish investment appreciation from income.
