Using the Watchlist

The Watchlist tab lets you track assets you are researching or considering for future investment, without adding actual transactions. It gives you current price data and performance metrics for monitored assets alongside your live portfolio.

What the Watchlist Does

When you add an asset to your Watchlist, Ghostfolio fetches real-time or end-of-day price data for it. This lets you:

• Monitor how a potential investment performs over time
• Compare watchlisted assets against your actual holdings
• Keep a shortlist of assets for future purchases

Watchlist items do not affect your portfolio value, allocation percentages, or performance metrics. They are purely informational.

Adding Assets to the Watchlist

To add an asset to your Watchlist, navigate to the Holdings tab or anywhere you can search for a symbol, and choose the Add to Watchlist option. You can search by company name or ticker symbol.

Viewing Watchlist Data

The Watchlist tab shows each monitored asset with its current price and recent price change. Use this to quickly check how assets in your research pipeline are moving before deciding to invest.

Removing from the Watchlist

To remove an asset from your Watchlist, open the asset and select the option to remove it from monitoring. Your existing portfolio data is unaffected by this action.
